The Arthur Miller Writing Studio organization in Roxbury, Connecticut sustains Arthur Miller’s legacy as a writer and an activist and helps to establish collaborative educational opportunities around the world.
Arthur’s Roxbury studio
Built in 1958 as a no frills work space, this building is central to an understanding of Arthur Miller as a writer. He worked here almost every day he was in Roxbury, writing and revising plays, stories, essays, poems and his autobiography Timebends.
The purpose of this campaign is to fund the relocation of his studio onto the Minor Memorial Library campus and to share it as an inspirational, experiential, and learning space. The project will encompass the rich literary history of Litchfield County, Connecticut. Programming may include writing workshops, panels, performances, educational programs, and writers residencies, in collaboration with organizations including the Arthur Miller Society and the Inge Morath Estate.
The studio building will be restored to reflect the almost half century that Miller worked in it. Funding includes an endowment to ensure the integrity of the building in perpetuity and to support programming on a local and global level.
